I have an Alienware M17x R3 from 2011/2012. I have been doing Windows 7 clean install so many times that I couldn't even count it, but I have run into some problems now.
1-2 months ago, I installed Windows 10 on it. It was running fine but because of lack of HD 3000 drivers for Windows 10, I had some issues with HDMI to Tv. I decided to go back to Windows 7 even though I loved Windows 10. For the first time, I have had problems after installing drivers on the Windows 7. I did as I always do. Download drivers from Alienware site and get the HD 3000 graphics and the Nvidia drivers from their official site. After I have installed the Nvidia drivers, I only have the Audio driver and the Alienware software apps to install.
Sometimes it gets stuck in 'welcome' after I need to reboot after I have installed the Audio or the Alienware software apps. It seems like it's a bit random when it gets stuck, but I have never been passed after restart on the last application software from Alienware. Now, I'm pretty sure all the drivers are fine, but I think Windows 10 did something to my laptop. As I said, I have been doing this for years. Never had a problem, and suddenly after Windows 10 it happens. I have even tried the 'old' drivers that I know should work, and the same things happen. My BIOS is up to date, but my laptop is confusing the HD 3000 graphics and Nvidia graphics.
When I go to bios and change a setting from 'SG' to 'PEG' it means that it disables the HD 3000 graphics and only run on the Nvidia. This method actually works for some reason and I'm booted in. Since I want my HD 3000 graphics to also run as I have always had it, I went back to BIOS and changed back to 'SG' The same thing happens again, stuck at 'Welcome' I press 'CTRL + ALT + DELETE' and go to switch users and I just get a black screen. I'm 99% sure that there's not any problems with the drivers I have since they have been proven to work for the last 4 years but it's still a driver issue.
I have no idea what to do now, besides maybe go back to Windows 10. Who knows if there will be an issue there now. Also, I like having HD 3000 graphics enabled because there are some old softwares/games that doesn't support Nvidia graphics, and I do sometimes use those. EDIT: Nothing is plugged into my laptop expect for the charger.
Specs: - i7-2630QM - GTX 560M - Samsung 840 EVO SSD. Did you check your Hard drive health? Yes, and everything is fine.
I went back to Windows 10 and everything works fine. The reason why I left Windows 10 in the first place was because of some issues with HDMI.

This has been sorted now. Just a silly setting that I didn't know was there. Windows 10 decided to scale it to 150% when connecting it to a TV which made games in fullscreen act weird like not being able to hit the correct buttons even though my mouse was on it.
Also the mouse was moving by itself. All this was solved when I changed it to 100% scale.
